So I’ve seen a lot of movies and TV shows that have featured fictional authors. As an author myself (I really am – some of y’all may not know that), I was thinking about my favorite “fictional authors” whose books I might like to read and made a list of my top 15. Feel free to add ones I missed (don’t be scared).

  1. Jack Torrance (The Shining – Come on people, he just wanted some quiet time to write! With his demented mind, I can only imagine how amazing his books were.)
  2. Bill Denbrough (IT – horror novelist who probably isn’t all that much different in style than King himself.)
  3. Catherine Tramell (Basic Instinct – come on, you know you want to read HER steamy murder mysteries 😏🔥)
  4. Gale Weathers (Scream – bestselling author of “The Woodsboro Murders” – I’d read that.)
  5. Chad Flenderman (The Office – Toby’s favorite mystery author … or was it actually Toby himself writing as Chad?)
  6. Crow T. Robot (MST3K – wrote several cleverly titled screenplays, but his best work was the song “Let’s Have a Patrick Swayze Christmas.”
  7. Thad Beaumont/George Stark (The Dark Half – I sense his gritty crime novels would be chilling.)
  8. Larry Donner (Throw Mama From the Train – I sense his books would have a Hitchcock feel to them.)
  9. George McFly (Back to the Future – a great 80’s sci-fi writer who was inspired by an otherworldly visit he had in high school from Darth Vader who visited from the planet Vulcan.)
  10. Gordie LaChance (Stand By Me – writes some cool tales of revenge. Remember the story of “Lard Ass?”)
  11. Melvin Udall (As Good as it Gets – kind of a douchebag person, but apparently he knows how to write women.)
  12. Homer Simpson (The Simpsons – author of Homer: I Hardly Knew Me. How could you NOT want to read this one …)
  13. Karen Eiffel (Stranger Than Fiction – odd that she has no problem killing off a character that actually came to life.)
  14. Paul Sheldon (Misery – meh, not sure how much I would enjoy his Misery novels. Plots seemed a little boring to me …)
  15. Diane Chambers (Cheers – pretty sure her debut novel topped one million words. Might have trouble getting through that.)
