Questions:
1. Tell our readers a little about yourself and your writing (including publications).
Ever since I was a youngster back in the 70s, I loved horror movies and television shows. I remember watching Chiller Theater on TV with my mom every Saturday. I’ve been writing horror on and off throughout the years, but it wasn’t until 2019 that I decided to put thirteen of my short horror stories into a self-published anthology, Dreaded Tales: A Short Horror Collection. In 2020, I released Dreaded Tales 2: Another Collection of Short Horror Stories. In 2022, I decided to write my first novella, and the idea of Haunted by Life: A Paranormal Coming of Age Story came into mind, writing about my experiences growing up in Puerto Rico, adding a ghost to the mix to make it more interesting and scarier. Then I wrote another novella, The Exorcism of Eve, in 2023. I had been a fan of the movies The Exorcist and Rosemary’s Baby, which inspired me to write my own version with my own twists. In 2024, I was thrilled to be selected as one of the writers for the anthology, Phantom Menagerie, in which a group of horror authors selected an item from the Phantom History House and wrote a short story about it. I selected a bookcase shaped like a casket. The story “The Casket Bookcase” is included in the book. This year in 2025, I released my first novel, Zombie Mom: A Motherly Horror. I am a huge fan of zombies, and I wanted to write a zombie story was different from others out there. So far, it has been my most successful book, reaching #8 in Amazon’s best-selling U.S. Horror Fiction chart last month.
2. What writing projects are you currently working on?
Due to the success of the first two books and reader requests, I am currently writing and will release Dreaded Tales 3 later in 2026.
3. Are you a daytime writer, a mid-day writer, a nighttime writer, or just someone who writes when the mood hits you?
I write when the mood hits me any time or day of the week. It is more relaxing while listening to music, mostly dance and pop.
4. Do you have a writing “Bucket List” (goals you want to accomplish as a writer)?
My goal is to write 200 published stories whether they are short stories, novellas, or novels.
5. Who is your favorite author and why?
Believe it or not, my favorite author is not a horror author. It is Robin Cook. He is the master of medical thrillers. Ever since I read his book, Coma, in 1977, I was hooked and have read almost every single novel he has written. Dr. Cook’s writing, combining health and suspense, makes the stories enticing to read.
6. Who/what first inspired you to write?
Back in high school, I wrote my first horror story. It was part of an English class assignment. The teacher loved the story so much that she suggested I read it in front of the class. Being a shy teenager, I was petrified but read it to my classmates. Everyone clapped and cheered. From that day on, I was inspired to write. I still have the original paper. The revised story, “The House of Death,” is included in my first book, Dreaded Tales.
7. What are your favorite book genres?
My favorite book genres are fiction horror, mystery, science fiction, fantasy, and medical thrillers.
8. What was the first horror movie you ever saw?
At the movies, it was The Exorcist (1973). I went with my older brothers and was freaked out!
9. What is your favorite horror movie?
My favorite is the original Halloween (1978).
10. What is the worst horror movie you have ever seen?
Several, but I prefer not to name them.
11. Do you have any “rules” when you write? (EX for me: the dog never dies!)
I stay away from cruelty to animals and children.
10. Speaking of animals, do you have any pets?
Yes! I have a dog. She is eight years old. She’s a rescued from an animal shelter four years ago and has brought so much joy into my life.
11. When you are in a writing funk, how do you find your way out?
I walk away and come back to it later, whether it is later that hour or days later. No time frame.
12. What advice would you give to someone who wants to be a writer?
If writing is your passion, go for it! Write something you enjoy writing!
